I haven't posted in a week so it's time for an update. I'm happy to report that Ava is doing MUCH better. Keren took Ava to her parents house on Saturday and they reported that she was perfect for them. My mom came over on Sunday and said the same thing, very little fussing and generally was a peach. How could this be? We've heard/read a 100 times that babies can sense when their parents are stressed, are we really that stressed out? (probably so but how acute could Ava's sense of this be?)
Keren decided to stop breast feeding over the weekend also and start pumping. Ava would breast feed for a hour at times and we weren't certain she was getting enough milk also. Since we have switched to formula Ava has been 10 times less fussy, sleeps better and is generally in a much better mood. We weighed her tonight and she tips the scales at 9 lbs. 1 ounce. She's gained exactly 2 lbs. in 3 1/2 weeks which might be a little more than the recommended 1 ounce/day. Time to stop feeding her Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast.
Since she's been much less fussy we've stopped swaddling her and letting her fall asleep while holding her. It's been so nice not having to dance to the water faucet for hours on end.

How adorable is my niece! I can't tell if she likes the pink seahorse animal, but what a funny picture!
ReplyDeleteThanks sis, she loves the seahorse!
