Ava goes to DC!

It was a big day for Ava today!  We got a semi-early start and drove down to DC so Ava could visit Obama. In the past Keren and I had taken the metro and it usually took around 30-45 minutes to make the trip.  Surprisingly it was only a short 10 minute drive over from Arlington and parking was a breeze.  We parked on Constitution, only about 4 blocks from the White House.  It was a beautiful day, sunny, low humidity and around 86 for the high.  I put plenty of sunscreen on Ava but was still concerned about her getting sunburned.  We walked around this huge pond, past the Vietnam Memorial, took a couple pictures in front of the Lincoln Memorial then headed towards the Washington Monument.

I could tell Ava was getting a lot of sun and was a little tired.  I was hoping to walk down towards the mall and Capitol then swing by the White House but that was going to be far too long of a walk for Ava.  We back tracked around towards the Vietnam Memorial where there was plenty of shade and I laid a blanket out under some trees so Ava could stretch her legs.  She was getting a little grouchy in the stroller but really enjoyed her playtime on the blanket.  As nice and comfy as the blanket was, she gravitated towards the grass and took great delight in ripping it from the ground and trying to eat it.  She did eat some apple sauce and drank her milk so I think the break was successful overall.  Ava had been up for 5 hours so she was desperately in need of a nap.  We packed up and made the short trip home, day 3 in the books.  It was another fun filled day, hopefully Ava will meet the president tomorrow or Friday, we'll see.
